Employment Skills
Through these classes, students learn the fundamentals of finding employment, maintaining employment, changing jobs, and career exploration. Students are taught: how to find a job; networking; properly completing an application; marketing oneself; preparing for an interview; dressing for success; writing a resume, cover letter, and thank you letter; dealing with on the job stressors; starting a savings account; balance a checkbook. Many other employment related topics are covered as well. Throughout the school year various community members visit the class to discuss various careers and other life skill topics as well as assist with mock interviews. Students participating in the employment skills classes also create a career passport. The career passport includes the student’s resume, cover letter, recommendations, references, and any certificates the student may earn while attending Eagle Learning Center.
